Bialowieza Forest is one of the largest and oldest forests in Europe. It is best known for the largest population of European bison, which inhabit this area. However, in these forests live about 21 thousand animal species including wolves and lynxes. Since 1976 Bialowieza Forest is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.Â
